| Born and raised in South Africa within casting
distance of the Indian Ocean, I developed
a great love for the outdoors. The bushveld,
rivers and ocean, with all the game that abounds
there, formed an integral part of my life.
On completion of my formal education I
pursued a career as an architectural assistant
which appealed to my interest in design
and practical hands-on approach.
Always the keen hobbiest - in 1985 I was
custom building fishing rods to support
my other outdoor interests when the need
arose for a good working hunter. Armed with
the book, "How to make Knives"
by Bob Loveless, I was introduced to a world
of knives far bigger than I could ever have
imagined.
I became a member of the "Southern African
Knifemaker's Guild" in October 1986 and
by the end of 1988 took up knifemaking as
a full-time occupation - the bug had truly
bitten at that stage.
To date I have been awarded 38 "Certificates
of Excellence" for individual knives
exhibited at the annual shows and "Best
Overall Knifemaker" on 5 separate occasions.
I work from a one man shop (with a good
view of the ocean) building knives to order,
one at a time. My aim is to produce a wide
variety of investor class, quality fixed
blade knives for the collector and discerning
user, and as such continually strive for
the highest degree of craftsmanship possible.
Although I am constantly updating and introducing
new designs, this web catalogue is a good
representation of my current range, and will
be updated as and when new designs become
available.
Over and above the designs shown, I welcome
the opportunity to build to the customer's
design - and would in this instance supply
you with a drawing and price for our mutual
agreement.
If I am able to assist you in any way what-so-ever,
please do not hesitate to contact me.
Presenting my 2009 web catalogue -
enjoy!
